Silica Sol

Aqueous colloidal silica with controlled particle size and stability — the binder modern processes rely on.

Overview

Colloidal silica, engineered for stability

SILSEP silica sol is an aqueous dispersion of nano-scale colloidal SiO₂ particles with tight particle-size distribution and long shelf stability. Available in different particle sizes, concentrations and surface modifications. Detailed grades and specifications on request.

Why formulators choose it

How It Works

The principle

Silica sol particles carry a charged surface layer that keeps them dispersed indefinitely in water. When water is removed — by drying or gelation — the particles pack and form siloxane bonds with each other and with the substrate, creating a hard, heat-resistant inorganic network. That transition from stable liquid to ceramic-like binder is what makes silica sol the backbone of precision casting shells and inorganic coatings.
