Four surface areas, one job: rheology control that keeps pigments suspended and vertical films in place.

Overview

Nano-structured SiO₂ for flow you can control

SILSEP fumed silica is produced by flame hydrolysis, giving chain-like nano aggregates with very high purity (SiO₂ ≥99.9%) and BET surface areas from 150 to 380 m²/g. White powder, 10 kg paper bag.

Why formulators choose it

How It Works

The principle

In liquid systems, fumed silica aggregates connect through hydrogen bonds into a loose three-dimensional network that holds pigments in suspension and resists sagging. Under shear — stirring, pumping, spraying — the network breaks and viscosity drops; at rest it rebuilds within seconds. This reversible thixotropy is what lets a coating spray easily yet stay put on a vertical wall.

Recommended Grades

Find your grade

VS150

BET 150±15 m²/g — economical thickening and anti-settling for general coatings; bulk density 40–50 g/L.

VS200

BET 200±25 m²/g — the all-round rheology grade balancing thickening efficiency and dispersibility.

VS300

BET 300±25 m²/g — higher network density for demanding anti-sag and suspension performance.

VS380

BET 380±30 m²/g, DBP ≥180 ml/100g — maximum thickening efficiency for high-performance systems.
