How It Works

The principle

Unlike silica, boehmite alumina surfaces carry a positive charge in coating conditions. Anionic dye and pigment inks are electrostatically fixed the instant they touch the layer, while the liquid vehicle drains into the pore structure. The combination — instant fixation on top, fast drainage below — is what produces the high-gloss, high-density image quality of photo-grade media.
