How to Store Feed Additives in a Tropical Warehouse

Most "product failure" complaints we investigate turn out to be storage failure: the additive left the factory fine and died in the warehouse. Tropical storage is a process, not a shelf.

Steps

  1. Control the microclimate. Target under 30°C and under 65% RH where possible. No direct sun on bags, 10 cm off the floor on pallets, 30 cm from exterior walls.
  2. Keep packaging integrity. Foil liners exist for a reason. Reseal opened bags tightly the same day; split large bags into smaller sealed lots if usage is slow.
  3. Rotate strictly FIFO. Label receiving dates; first in, first out. Check remaining shelf life on arrival — VS3965 18 months, VSW5 12 months, VS382 540 days from production, not from your receipt.
  4. Separate aggressive neighbors. Store additives away from choline chloride, acids and hygroscopic minerals which pull moisture and catalyze degradation.
  5. Audit monthly. Smell and visual check of open lots; slight color change in VS382 is normal, caking or off-odor is not — quarantine and contact your supplier.
