In film production, smooth adjacent layers cling together (blocking), causing breaks and waste at winding and converting speed. SILSEP anti-blocking silica creates a controlled micro-spacing between layers while its refractive index keeps haze to a minimum.

How It Works

The principle

Blocking occurs when two smooth film surfaces come into full contact and adhere through van der Waals forces. Anti-blocking silica particles protrude slightly from the film surface, creating micro-asperities that hold the surfaces apart and reduce the true contact area — layers release cleanly at winding, bag-opening and converting, while particle size below the visible threshold preserves optical clarity.
