Frequently Asked Questions

Everything feed mill nutritionists and procurement teams ask before choosing a palatability enhancer — product science, dosage, certification, sampling and support.

Quick Answer

What do nutritionists and procurement teams need to know before selecting a feed palatability enhancer?

Scientifically: Silsep products are built on IAS patent spray-drying technology — producing carrier-free, 100% water-soluble micro-spheres with uniform particle size and thermal stability through pelleting. Every active ingredient is listed in the National Feed Additive Directory; OxiGuard™ W5 carries Class A(1) safety classification. Commercially: first orders start from 100–500 kg with a free evaluation sample before you commit. The 10 answers below cover product definitions, working principles, inclusion rates, FAMI-QS certification, competitive differentiation, storage, MOQ, sampling and technical support.

What are feed palatability enhancers and why do they matter?
Feed palatability enhancers are additives — sweeteners, flavours and attractants — designed to stimulate voluntary feed intake in livestock and aquaculture species. When animals eat more consistently, daily gain improves, feed conversion ratio (FCR) drops, and production cycles shorten. Silsep's range covers every dimension of palatability: from sucrose-like sweetness (SweetFlow™ 7188) to species-specific aromatics (AromaBoost™ 2312 for piglets, AromaBoost™ 1437 for aquaculture) and multi-sensory attractants (PalateX™ X382/X383).
How does IAS patent spray-drying technology work?
Our proprietary Integrated Atomisation & Spray-drying (IAS) process produces carrier-free, 100% water-soluble micro-spheres with uniform particle size. Unlike conventional blending on inert carriers, IAS locks active ingredients into a homogeneous matrix that dissolves in 3–5 seconds and survives the thermal shock of pelleting (80–90 °C). This means every pellet receives the same sweetness or flavour intensity — no hot spots, no dust loss, no segregation in the mixer.
Which animal species are Silsep products suitable for?
The full range is formulated for swine, poultry, ruminants and aquaculture. SweetFlow™ 7188 and SweetCore™ T3965 work across all species. AromaBoost™ 2312 is optimised for nursery piglets. AromaBoost™ 3318 suits swine and poultry. AromaBoost™ 1437 is a fish-meal flavour specialist for shrimp and fish. PalateX™ X382 targets swine and poultry; PalateX™ X383 is a 3-in-1 essential oil + sweetener for all species. EmulsiMax™ and OxiGuard™ W5 are species-universal.
What does FAMI-QS certification mean for Silsep products?
FAMI-QS (Feed Additives and PreMixtures Quality System) is the EU-harmonised certification scheme for the feed additive supply chain. It verifies that every stage — from raw material sourcing and production to storage and dispatch — meets documented quality, traceability and safety requirements. For Silsep customers, FAMI-QS means: batch-to-batch consistency validated by an independent auditor, full traceability from ingredient to finished product, and compliance documentation accepted by regulators in the EU, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and beyond.
What are the typical inclusion rates for Silsep products?
Dosage depends on the product and species: SweetFlow™ 7188 at 100–200 g/ton complete feed; SweetCore™ T3965 at 60–180 g/ton; AromaBoost™ 3318 at 500–800 g/ton; AromaBoost™ 2312 at 400–600 g/ton; AromaBoost™ 1437 at 400–600 g/ton; PalateX™ X382 at 500–1,000 g/ton; PalateX™ X383 at 200–500 g/ton; EmulsiMax™ at 100–300 g/ton; OxiGuard™ W5 at 100–300 g/ton. We recommend starting at the midpoint and adjusting based on palatability index or FCR results. Contact us for a dosage ladder tailored to your formulation.
How do Silsep products differ from conventional feed flavours?
Three key differences. First, IAS spray-drying creates carrier-free micro-spheres with 100% solubility — conventional products blend actives onto inert carriers (calcium carbonate, silica dust), leading to uneven distribution and dust loss during mixing. Second, Silsep provides field-validated performance data (e.g., AromaBoost™ 2312: +53 g/day piglet intake; PalateX™ X382: +13.65% daily feed intake) rather than just sensory claims. Third, our cost-in-use leadership means lower inclusion rates deliver equal or better results — SweetCore™ at 60–180 g/ton often outperforms competitor products requiring 3× the dose.
What are the storage conditions and shelf life?
All Silsep products are stable for 24 months from manufacture when stored in original sealed packaging, in a cool, dry place below 30 °C and away from direct sunlight. Once opened, reseal the bag promptly and use within 3 months. The IAS spray-dried products (SweetFlow™ 7188) have exceptional moisture resistance due to their amorphous micro-sphere structure. Silica-carried products (SweetCore™ T3965, OxiGuard™ W5) benefit from silica's natural anti-caking properties. Each TDS includes a stability chart for tropical warehouse conditions.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
First orders are flexible: 100–500 kg depending on the product — not the multi-ton minimums common with multinational feed additive suppliers. We understand that switching palatability enhancers requires field validation first. Repeat orders can be consolidated by container (20 ft / 40 ft) for the best freight economics to Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and beyond.
Can I get a free sample before committing?
Yes. We ship a free evaluation sample (typically 1–2 kg) of the recommended product(s), together with the relevant Technical Data Sheet (TDS), Safety Data Sheet (SDS), and a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Tell us your species, current formulation challenges and target metrics (feed intake, FCR, ADG) via the contact form or email sales@silsep.com, and our application team will recommend the right product and dosage protocol.
What technical support does Silsep provide after purchase?
We provide end-to-end application support: dosage optimisation based on your formulation and pelleting conditions, palatability index testing, Customer Lab Services (CLS) for mycotoxin and product efficacy checks, and expert consultation for Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia markets. Our field application engineers respond within 24 hours via WhatsApp, Zalo or email. We also assist with trial design — bench trial at identical dosage against your current product, fine-tune, 7-day stability test, then production line validation.
